New Website Progress - 2 thumbs up!

I am very pleased with the progress of the new "PrintmakerWorld.com" social network website. Formerly a stale static website by the name of www.printmakers.info, the new website will be automated, dynamic and much more fun and certainly much more to offer. From contests, print exchanges to artist to artist networking, it stands to be a great hub for printmakers to enjoy for FREE.
The question that seems to be posed to me quite a lot recently is this, "Are you going to let digital printmaker's sign up on the site?"
And frankly, I would love to hear your thoughts on this. In the past the site has been reserved for the "old world" style printmaker's.
In this day and age of "tech meets tradition" I feel there may be a space for everyone. Anyone care to chime in on the subject, please do.
I think we will plan for the "Official launch" of the new website around March. It will be well worth the wait.

What Name Would You Choose?

A snippet from my last post about updating the domain name for the new www.printmakers.info

I own many website domain names and will probably be changing to one of them. I currently have these domain names and would love some input on what you think the site should be called. (this will be a printmaking social network so thought it could change a little.)
I personally like www.printmakersworld.com but would love to hear any of your thoughts.
HandPulledPrints.net
PrintmakersOfTheWorld.com
PrintmakersWorld.com
PrintmakersWorld.net
PrintmakingForum.com
PrintmakingNews.com
RealPrintmakers.com
WorldOfPrintmaking.com

and we could of course leave it as: www.printmakers.info

New Printmakers.info Website Construction

As some of you may know, I am in the middle of having the www.printmakers.info website rebuilt.

I am turning it into a fully interactive social network geared, as always, to printmakers and/or like minded people.

I have been away from my printing press now for far to long and have decided to come back stronger than ever, physically as well as technologically.

It will take some time to finish but it will be well worth the wait.
The plan is to use certain aspects similar to other social networks, a little here, a little there, and combined them and focus it around the art of hand pulled prints.

One of the first things to consider is the name: I have many website domain names and will probably be changing to one of them. I currently have these domain names and would love some input on what you think the site should be called. (this will be a printmaking social network so thought it could change a little.)
I personally like www.printmakersworld.com but would love to hear any of your thoughts.
handpulledprints.net
printmakersoftheworld.com
printmakersworld.com
printmakersworld.net
printmakingforum.com
printmakingnews.com
realprintmakers.com
worldofprintmaking.com

and we could of course leave it as: www.printmakers.info

Other things to look forward to:

*Maintain your own printmaking profiles and update as you wish.
*Each printmaker will have their own gallery page
*messaging from one printmaker to another through the site
*comments/critiques (able to be turned on or off as you wish)
*regularly posted contest
*each printmakers has their own onsite journal/blog if they want to use it.
*forum/message boards (with proper control to eliminate garbage, like porn)
*printmakers spotlight (featured artists chosen by the viewers) I love having "viewers choice" contest with real cash and material prizes.
*automatically updated and maintained "call for entries" and "workshops/classes" posts.
*completely searchable database website
*your will be able to post your uploaded images, contest prizes and other neat stuff directly to facebook and twitter with the click of a button.
*News feeds, suggestions that will actually be looked at and considered
*tips/tricks/howto etc.
and much much more

So please forgive my year or more absence and know that I am back and the site will be automated and fun.

Also there will be live help available you can call toll free. (# to be announced)

I just made a twitter account and will post regular info about the construction process of the new site.
So FOLLOW ME ON TWITTER @stonelitho

I will be looking for people to "beta" test it to work out the bugs before the official launch so if you are interested
please let me know.

This will take some months to finish so please be patient. It will be well worth it.

Lastly, STILL ALL FOR FREE!

Cheers,
Robert
